German musician gets West Mount Airy home

Medium 896e2fd6f571735148cba18099e92043 Ulrike Shapiro and David A. Shapiro bought the five-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 643 W. Sedgwick St. in West Mount Airy from Donald P. Tracy and Cornelia Kietzman for $283,000 on Aug. 14.

The 2,240-square-foot house was built in 1925.

Ulrike Shapiro is a musician and has served as the managing director of Tempesta di Mare, which offers baroque music.

He has been giving lectures on voice and opera programs in Curtis Institute of Music.

Tracy is a photographer specializing in corporate, stock and fine art.

Most of his artworks have been exhibited at the Raab Gallery.

There were 132 home sales in West Mount Airy in 2008, with a median sales price of $235,000.
